Wednesday, Dec. 11 – The Rockbridge County High School wrestling team defeated Fort Defiance and James River in its first home dual tournament of the season on Wednesday night in Lexington.
The Wildcats beat both teams by the same score, 56-24. Prior to RC’s duals, James River defeated Fort Defiance 50-33.
With the wins, following the Wildcats’ first-place finish in the Shumaker Classic last weekend at Parry McCluer High School, RC remained undefeated this season. JR placed second in the Shumaker Classic.
The Wildcats will compete in the Harrisonburg Invitational this weekend, with wrestling starting at 5 p.m. on Friday and at 9 a.m. on Saturday. They’ll then play host for their second and final home dual tournament next Wednesday against Alleghany, Amherst County and Staunton. Before the tournament, the Wildcats will honor their four seniors: Owen Hall, Anthony Marando, John Ryan Sedovy and Hayes Tomlin.
